HARTFORD, CT - Fire heavily damaged this 3 story brick occupied multiple dwelling on the morning of January 6, 2013. At around 7:45 a.m. Hartford Fire Alarm began receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a building fire at 172 Ashley St. in the city's North End. First-due Engine Co. 5 reported heavy fire showing from all floors of enclosed porches on the building's "A" side, transmitting the "Working Fire" upon arrival.
Companies performed an aggressive interior attack to knock down most of the heavy fire in short order, confining it primarily to the exterior "A" side porches. All searches for victims proved negative, however one occupant was transported by EMS for unknown injuries.
The Fire Marshal was investigating the cause of the fire.
