Welcome to "HARTFORD - On Fire"...documenting the never-ending story of the Hartford, CT (ISO Class 1) Fire Department through a camera lense.
My name is Sean Freiman, and I've been involved in photographing all aspects of the Fire/EMS services for more than 10 years. The "seed" of interest was planted during my childhood memories as I would always ask my mother to stop at the neighborhood firehouse to check out the apparatus when we passed by. The distant sounds of FEDERAL Q sirens across town would always raise my curiosity as to what was going down, necessitating the need to know more. By about the age of 10, I was able to purchase my first handheld scanner to hear the fire department in action as well.
As memories of certain events and incidents fade over time, photography is a way of preserving those times for the future. From the classic "posed" fire engine shot in bright sunlight - to the chaotic scene of a raging inferno with people trapped - each image captured is a unique moment in time. Beginning with consumer-based disposable cameras at a young age, I currently shoot all my images using CANON digital products - a dramatic upgrade from a decade ago.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work, and please stop back often as this site is updated regularly with new material. Any questions, comments or inquiries for service are always welcome - Please feel free to drop me a line...
